December 8, 2011 Christmas Party
The UFCW Local 227 Retirees annual Christmas party was held on December 8, 2011, at Gorman Hall. There were 150 people present. Jesse Harris led the prayer, after which a nice potluck was had. There was fried chicken along with a variety of other foods and deserts.
Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and happy to meet up with old friends. There was a lot of hand shaking and laughter.
There were three (3) one hundred dollar bills given as door prizes. The winners were---Thelma Williams, Lucille Childress and Rose Nation.
Well, I guess the women ruled this day.
Winner of the $300.00 drawing was David Hampton. The 50/50 was won by Loretta Mann, $141.00. Congratulations to all of them, nice way to start the Christmas season.
Many other door prizes were given, and the winners were: Judy Gordon, Martha Loveless, Gene Fager, Jorme Thompson, Ruby Kilmer, Jane Helton, Loretta Mann, Dolores Carter, Della Milburn, Lee Willing, Betty Gatlin, Bob Wright, John Munzer, Joseph Higgins, James Hill, Charlie Bretzel, Jerry Freeman, Georgeanna Wright and Wallace Bowles.
If I did not get your name right, I apologize. Not knowing everyone, I wrote what I heard.
The next monthly meeting of the retirees of UFCW Local 227, will be on January 12, 2012 at 12:00 pm (noon). Please come and bring a dish or desert and join us for a nice potluck lunch. We need you! And you might like it. Give us a try...
Thanks to President Gary Best and the office personnel of Local 227 for all their help and support. It is much appreciated, and to the Retirees who pitched in to make this a nice event.
