Happy New Year 2010! |
The annual Retirees Christmas party was held at Gorman Hall on December 10, 2009. There were 176 people present. A very nice turn out.
There was a variety of food and delicious deserts - which I am sure everyone enjoyed. The hall was decorated nicely and once again, we thank our friends upstairs for all of their help.
A Retiree of the Year award was presented to Bill and Violet Zorn. We also gave three (3) $100.00 (cash) door prizes which were won by: Jerry Hill, Bob Gatlin, and Betty Williams.
50/50 won by Richard Rosenbaum, which was a nifty $217.00
Winner of the 32" LCD TV was Audrey Bohannon. We sold $617.00 in tickets on the TV.
Several members stayed after to prepare boxes for the needy.
Another year of memories has passed. Now we open a door to the New Year--Come join your "Retirees" friends and make new memories for -2010-. You might enjoy it, and we would love to see you.WISHING YOU ALL PEACE AND HAPPINESS IN THE NEW YEAR!

Lunch 12:00 pm (Noon). Prayer led by Beth Munzer.
Speakers on fire prevention--Major Connie Sparks, Fire Marshall from Pleasure Ridge Park, and Michael Durbin who is a part time fire inspector. They advised that a carbon monoxide and smoke detector combo was the best to have in your home. Put a smoke detector on every level. A lithium type smoke detector should be placed near the bedroom. A smoke detector should be placed at VERY TOP of stairwell going to basement. Do not store anything around hot water heater. Have an escape plan in case of fire. If you suspect fire in home, drop to the floor and crawl. DO NOT STAND UP. Smoke rises. Cheeks and nose turn "cherry red" from carbon monoxide. It takes the oxygen out of your blood. Plan and practice an escape in case of fire. CHECK SMOKE DETECTOR MONTHLY.
