Minutes from the March's meeting: Lunch served at 12:00 pm (noon). Jim Higgins, Vice President, presided over meeting in absence of President Jim Hatfield.
Prayer led by Jesse Harris. Pledge of the flag was recited.
Twenty-one (21) members were present.
Guest Speaker - Detective Tom Miles
Detective Miles spoke about scams against the elderly. Most financial cases are caused by the victims loved ones. Most "death cases", are caretaker neglect. "Stranger cases" are SCAMS and they are good talkers, who try to get your money.
There is a scam going on now, the "Lottery Scam". They will call and say you won money from a lottery in Canada or Great Britain, then tell you to send $1,000 for taxes---BEWARE - SCAM.
Roofing and driveway repair (door to door) beware. Do not hire these people. Usually are "gypsy scams", and you will end up loosing. Check all workers through the Better Business Bureau. Never put bills with checks in them in your mailbox. If stolen, they will get your account number and routing number (check) and buy something using your numbers. Only put last four number of account on your check when paying a bill. Never send a "Money gram" to anyone, there is no way to trace them. Also remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. BUYER BEWARE.
