A report released Wednesday by Amnesty International exposes - once again - the human rights scandal that immigration has become.

It comes down to this: Do you think health care reform should get a straight majority vote in Congress? Or should a few Senators be allowed to single-handedly block reform?
As we speak, the Senate is working on President Obama's budget. At stake is something called "budget reconciliation," a Senate rule that forces Senators to take a simple majority vote on the budget. In other words, the budget cannot be filibustered.

Workers deserve respect
Last week, the Local 179 chapter of the United Food and Commercial Works at Tyson Deli here in Cherokee, voted to accept their contract. Mike Leckband, who reported on the vote results at the Cherokee Chronicle Times and who worked at the Tyson plant for eight years, reminds readers that workers deserve to be treated with respect.
