Kroger Members: 2027 Health Insurance Open Enrollment Begins November 16

Open enrollment for Kroger members covered by the Heartland Health & Wellness Fund begins November 16 and ends December 7, 2026. This is your opportunity to review your health insurance coverage and make any necessary changes for 2027.

The good news? If you're already enrolled in coverage, you may not need to do anything.

Will My Health Insurance Automatically Renew?

The Heartland Health & Wellness Fund uses a process called Evergreen Enrollment, which means eligible members are automatically enrolled for the following year.

Your coverage will automatically renew for 2027 if:

  • You are currently enrolled in benefits for 2026

    and

  • You are eligible for benefits in 2027

If you meet both conditions and don't need to make changes, no action is required.

When Do I Need to Take Action?

Even if you're automatically enrolled, you'll need to take action during open enrollment if you want to:

  • Change your benefit plan.

  • Add or remove a spouse or child from your coverage.

  • Opt out of coverage.

  • Report a change in your spouse's employment status.

Important: Some members may be required to complete a spousal affidavit or provide additional verification. These requirements could affect your co-premiums for 2027.

How Do I Enroll or Make Changes?

Members who need to enroll or update their coverage can do so online through the Heartland Health & Wellness Fund.

Your Union Works to Protect Your Benefits

Quality, affordable health insurance is an important part of your union contract. UFCW Local 227 negotiates with Kroger to protect and improve your health care benefits, working to keep coverage affordable for members and their families.

That work doesn't end when a contract is signed. Your union continues to monitor the health and welfare fund, represent members' interests, and work to maintain the quality of the benefits you've earned.

Your health insurance is more than a workplace benefit. It's something union members have worked together to secure and protect.

Don't Miss the December 7 Deadline

Your health insurance is an important part of your union-negotiated benefits. Take a few minutes to review your coverage and make sure it still meets your family's needs.

Remember, open enrollment ends December 7, 2026. If you need to make changes, don't wait until the last minute.
