Updated 4/26/24

The warm weather is peeking its head in, and you aren’t the only one feeling the vacation itch. Luckily UFCW 227 members get some big perks when it comes to vacation planning.

We could go on and on about making the most of your union membership to help your vacation but we will keep it short and sweet with 5 ways your union family makes vacation better!

  1. Protected time off- Over 90% of union members have protected time off of work, check your union contract (and request one here if you need a copy), or ask your steward or union representative to learn about your protected time off and how to use it.

  2. Car rental and hotel discounts- Use your union membership to make your protected time off even better when you use it to get out of town! Car rental discounts with savings of 25% at Avis, Hertz, and Budget! Then save on hotel booking by up to 60%! With these discounts you don’t have to change your vacation to a staycation.

  3. Entertainment discounts- If you haven’t checked out the UnionPlus.org app, check out our post on downloading and registering for Union Plus/ Abenity and save on theme parks like Disney, local attractions- up to 13% off at Ripley’s Believe It or Not, movies (25% off most tickets) and almost anything else you like to do on vacation.

  4. Restaurant Discounts- Using your union plus app’s nearby feature you can find discounts on restaurants near you or any zip code you enter. So, whether you like to plan in advance or go with the flow, just pull up the ‘Nearby’ section when it’s time to find a restaurant and let the discount be your guide.

  5. Plan the trip of a lifetime! Thinking of going all out on a vacation this year, or even starting to plan for next year? With options to save on cruises, and all inclusive vacation tours with groups like Collete, you get the best prices on some pretty remarkable vacations.

There you have it, 5 ways your union membership makes vacations better! And if traveling isn’t in the cards for you, use these tips to save on fun closer to home too.
