Every year our UFCW 227 Hardship Grant helps members and their families in need. When things are at their worst, our union family will pay a utility bill, rent or the mortgage (up to $500) for a union member out of work for more than 2 weeks due to illness, injury or housing loss related to a natural disaster such as flooding or a tornado.
Criteria To Qualify for Hardship Assistance
Illness/injury to member, spouse or dependent child;
Member is off of work for an extended amount of time (i.e. more than two weeks) with no access to income benefits (i.e. short term disability).
Member is suffering an ongoing emergency medical condition that results in a loss of income to member for an extended period of time (i.e. cancer treatments);
Accidental or unexpected death of member, spouse, or dependent child; or
House fire/Tornado/Flood.
The Hardship Assitance Fund is a union member only benefit.
