Every year our UFCW 227 Hardship Grant helps members and their families in need. When things are at their worst, our union family will pay a utility bill, rent or the mortgage (up to $500) for a union member out of work for more than 2 weeks due to illness, injury or housing loss related to a natural disaster such as flooding or a tornado.

Criteria To Qualify for Hardship Assistance

  • Illness/injury to member, spouse or dependent child;

  • Member is off of work for an extended amount of time (i.e. more than two weeks) with no access to income benefits (i.e. short term disability).

  • Member is suffering an ongoing emergency medical condition that results in a loss of income to member for an extended period of time (i.e. cancer treatments);

  • Accidental or unexpected death of member, spouse, or dependent child; or

  • House fire/Tornado/Flood.

The Hardship Assitance Fund is a union member only benefit.
